Privacy policy

Macaroni collects nothing.

It has no account, no analytics and no crash reporting of its own. There is no networking code in it, and the page it renders your document into is not permitted to make a request by its own content security policy. Everything it displays comes from the file on your disk and from the app itself.

The app does carry one network entitlement, and it is worth saying why rather than leaving you to find it: a sandboxed web view on macOS renders nothing at all without it, not even a page handed to it from memory. It is WebKit’s requirement, not a door Macaroni uses.

Macaroni never writes to a Markdown file. What it remembers, it keeps on your Mac, inside the app’s own sandbox container: which folder you were reading, which documents were open, where you were in each one, and the settings you chose. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Macaroni reads the files and folders you open, and nothing else. macOS decides what it may reach, and the only way it gains access to anything is you choosing it in an open panel or dropping it on the window.

If you buy Macaroni from the Mac App Store, Apple handles the purchase and tells us nothing about you beyond aggregate sales figures. Apple’s own privacy policy covers that transaction.
