Before you write, four answers that cover most of what gets asked.

“My images are not showing.”

macOS hands a sandboxed app the file you picked and nothing else in the folder, so a picture stored beside your document cannot be read until you allow it. Macaroni offers a Grant Access button when that happens and remembers what you choose. Opening the folder rather than the file, with File > Open Folder or by dropping the folder on the window, avoids the question entirely.

“macOS asked if Macaroni can find devices on my local network.”

That appears the first time you print, and it is the printing system looking for printers rather than Macaroni looking for anything. Declining is fine: a printer you have already set up still works.

“I have the path, not the file.”

⇧⌘V opens a box with whatever path is on your clipboard already in it, and Return opens it. Spaces need no quotes. Macaroni works out whether it is a document or a folder. A path is only text and carries no permission with it, so the first time you name somewhere Macaroni has not been let into, it asks once, with the right thing already chosen, and remembers.

“It will not open my file from Finder.”

Settings > General has a button that makes Macaroni the app Finder opens Markdown files with. It asks for the nine Markdown extensions and never for .txt, so a plain text file keeps opening in TextEdit.
